NCMS Lecture: Compound Semiconductors and their applications in photonics
Making light in the Valleys: compound semiconductors and their applications in photonics
The lecture will explore semiconductor manufacturing in general and the growing role of compound semiconductor materials in delivering valuable new functionality. Howard will talk specifically about how these materials enable photonic systems to be designed and manufactured in volume. He will also share insights on how Rockley Photonics uses compound semiconductors to produce spectrophotometer chip sets for wearable devices used in a wide range of health and wellness applications. To conclude, we will discuss the world-class expertise that exists within the South Wales compound semiconductor cluster and how that can be further developed.
