Wales Festival of Innovation presents 'CS Connected – Building the world’s first compound semiconductor cluster'
12th February 2018
Compound semiconductors are driving future technologies!
From the connected world, the Internet of Things to robotics, autonomous vehicles and healthcare technologies, compound semiconductors are and will continue to impact the way we live, work and spend our leisure time. Compound semiconductors (CS) are the enabling technology for 21st century life.
This event will introduce CS Connected and explore the opportunities this major investment brings for organisations.
With around £300m of finance committed to date, the United Kingdom Government, the devolved Welsh Government, the EPSRC, Cardiff University and private investors have come together with industry leaders IQE, SPTS, Newport Wafer Fab and Microsemi to establish the world’s first Compound Semiconductor cluster, with its hub in South Wales.
CS Connected unites international businesses, policymakers and academics who are building next-generation technology that can position Wales as a world-leader.
Event speakers will include key players from each of the components making up the cluster, including:
Dr Drew Nelson, IQE plc
Dr Wyn Meredith, Compound Semiconductor Centre
Alastair McGibbon, Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult
Chris Meadows, IQE plc
Sam Evans, Newport Wafer Fab
Event format:
Registration and a buffet lunch will be followed by presentation of an overview of CS Connected, and panel discussion forum. Directly afterwards there will be further refreshment and an opportunity for networking.
