CSconnected represents organisations who are directly associated with research, development, innovation and manufacturing of compound semiconductor related technologies as well as organisations along the supply chains whose products and services are enabled by compound semiconductors. The UK, and in particular, Wales, is home to a growing number of organisations and businesses that are active in this increasingly important industry sector.
Our role is to support the cluster by facilitating meaningful collaboration, strengthening connections, and ensuring the collective voice of the cluster is heard at regional, national, and international levels.
Through strategic networking, curated introductions, industry roundtables, stakeholder engagement, and coordinated promotion, we create practical opportunities for members to build partnerships, access insight, raise their profile, and contribute to the continued growth of the cluster.

Definitions
The type and cost of this membership is based on factors such as the your location, the size of your organisation, and the type of organisation.
Criteria which must be satisfied to be considered a ‘Connected’ member. What we mean by ‘in and around South Wales’.
We recognise that political borders are largely meaningless when we consider local collaboration. While the compound semiconductor cluster is firmly established in South Wales, there are organisations ‘around’ our political boundaries which have deeper links to the cluster. If an organisation meets two of the following four criteria, we will consider them for Connected or Core Member status, and they can participate accordingly:
The organisation is located within 20 miles of the South Wales area
A significant portion (>15%) of their workforce lives and commutes from South Wales
The organisation is engaged in a large collaborative research programme (>£500k in funding) with an existing cluster partner(s).
The organisation is a significant commercial supplier (>£250k Annually) with an existing cluster partner(s).
It is recognised that an organisation may become eligible/ineligible if their circumstances change.
How do we define an SME?
We use the official European definition of an SME which is up to 250 employees and/or £44m GBP turnover.
How do we define an FE?
FE refers to a Further Education organisation, which is an institution (other than a school or university) that provides education and training after secondary school for people aged 16 and over, not for a university degree.
