About University of South Wales

The University of South Wales (USW) is a leading contributor to Wales's technology and skills ecosystem, bringing expertise in semiconductors, advanced technologies, cyber security, digital resilience, artificial intelligence, data science, digital forensics, secure communications, and space & defence technologies.
Through policy engagement, collaborative research, knowledge exchange, consultancy, student projects, and graduate talent development, the University helps organisations, including local authorities and governments (both national and international), build resilience, adopt emerging technologies, and drive innovation.
Further strengthening this capability is Calon, USW's new Computing, Engineering and Technology hub at our Pontypridd Campus, scheduled to open in Autumn 2026. The facility will provide over 40 specialist teaching, learning, and research spaces. By bringing together academia, industry, and public sector partners, Calon will create new opportunities for research, innovation, and business engagement across advanced manufacturing, cyber security, space, defence, artificial intelligence, data science, and other emerging technologies.
As a core member of CS Connected, USW is proud to support the growth of Wales's innovation, technology, and skills ecosystem, contributing to the development of the world's first compound semiconductor cluster. We are committed to working with fellow members to strengthen capability, develop talent, foster innovation, and create opportunities that benefit organisations across Wales, the UK, and beyond and welcome conversations with organisations interested in research collaboration, innovation, skills development, or wider engagement. If you would like to learn more about USW's work in these areas, we would be delighted to hear from you.
