New Funding Call Launched to Grow South Wales’ Semiconductor Supply Chain
14th July 2025
South Wales’ ambition to lead globally in compound semiconductors is gathering pace with the launch of the second round of funding from the CSconnected Supply Chain Development Programme, funded by CSconnected and Cardiff Capital Region.
The announcement was made at the programme’s second in-person launch event, a Supplier Day held on 1st July in Newport, featuring supplier presentations, tabletop displays and valuable networking opportunities for companies across the industry.
Managed by CSconnected, the Supply Chain Development Programme aims to strengthen local supply chains, spark collaboration, and create economic growth within South Wales’ fast-expanding semiconductor cluster. The new call for funding is now open to applications via the CSconnected website until Friday 15th August 2025.
Hazel Hung, Business Development Manager at CSconnected, described the momentum generated by the first round of funding and the importance of continuing to build on this success:
“The first call attracted innovative projects that will create high-skilled jobs and increase the region’s capability. This second call is another opportunity to connect more businesses into the semiconductor cluster, develop vital supply chain capacity, and accelerate economic impact in South Wales.”
The programme is open to companies throughout the semiconductor supply chain – including advanced manufacturing services, industrial suppliers, design tool developers and raw material providers. Grants of up to £100,000 are available, requiring 50% match funding, supporting projects that invest in equipment, enhance their productivity, or develop innovative solutions.
The first round of funding saw four awardees selected:
- Ffotoneg Ltd
- KuasaSemi
- Pegasus Chemicals
- RAM Innovations
Their projects represent cutting-edge innovation and critical capability development that will boost economic impact, create new jobs, and help expand the semiconductor supply chain across South Wales. Read more about the first successful applicants and their projects here.
