CSconnected hosts QRM19 at CS², Newport

14th August 2025

On 14 August 2025, CSconnected welcomed partners and stakeholders to the 19th Quarterly Review Meeting (QRM19) of the Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) programme. The meeting took place at the CSconnected Community Space (CS²) in Newport, a facility funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the SIPF programme.

The session brought together our monitoring officer, and representatives from the UKRI/SIPF team, alongside Wyn Meredith (Chair, CSconnected) and Malini Vieyra (SIPF Programme Manager, Cardiff University). These regular meetings provide an opportunity to review progress, share updates, and ensure delivery of the ambitious SIPF programme, which continues to strengthen regional growth in South Wales through research, innovation and collaboration.

As part of the day, attendees visited KLA’s new 237,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art R&D and semiconductor equipment manufacturing facility in Newport. Supported by Cardiff Capital Region (CCR), the site has capacity for up to 750 employees and represents a major investment in advanced manufacturing and innovation for the region.
